Our 11th Annual Drive Away Breast Cancer Car Show was held on Sunday, May the 5th, 2019, in beautiful downtown Safety Harbor, Florida! Despite a two-hour delay due to an unanticipated monsoon, we hosted 214 cars and collected a total of $7,500 to support Dr. Charles Cox and his work at USF Breast Health. We had some new vendors who stepped up to the plate to provide great merchandise options and excellent food to the car folks and our spectators and hope to bring most of them back to next year’s show.
The supercell thunderstorm hit at about 2 in the afternoon, blowing down shelters and threatening a number of our structures, including our communications tower and DJ Lepard Trax’ gear. But we worked together through the storm to keep everyone safe and to protect our equipment. Nicely done, team and participants!
After the storm, we regrouped in the Safety Harbor Gazebo and used a donated DJ rig and a microphone generously lent to us by the management at Nolan’s Pub, 230 Main St, Safety Harbor, to complete the show. Nolan’s generously served as a refuge for several of our members as well. Our “perfect storm survivors” had a great time being entertained by DJ Chris and bidding on our live auction items.
Make sure to mark your calendar to join us for the 12th Annual Drive Away Breast Cancer Car Show to benefit Dr. Cox and USF Breast Health on Sunday, May the 3rd, 2020, once again graciously hosted in downtown Safety Harbor!
